Supporting the scholarship holders
This program aims to provide a financial incentive to young singers under 30 years of age who are already working under contract to be able to remain at their “home” opera houses. This financial support in the form of a monthly scholarship assures young singers enough time for studying and to acquire an individual repertoire. This opportunity to perform in different roles leads to additional experience on stage. Marko Mimica was born in 1984 and first studied trumpet at the Music school in Split. Since 2005 he studied singing at the Music Academy in Zagreb and won the first prize of the competition for students of Music and Dance 2007 in Dubrovnik. He is member of the choir of National Theatre Zagreb and had his debut as soloist in 2008 as Papageno (Magic Flute). Further he there sang Il Notario (Gianni Schicci) and Gran Sacerdote (Nabucco). At the City Theatre “Komedija” he had his debut as Dulcamara (L´elisir d´amore). In January 2009 he sang Dandini (La Cenerentola) at the National Theatre Zagreb. |

Jelena Stulic was born in 1978 and studied singing at the Academy of Music in Belgrade (Class of Mrs. Radmila Bakocevic). During her education she participated at several international competitions and won the special prize for the best mezzo-soprano of the competitions in Ruma („Nikola Cvejic“) and Becej („Obzorja na Tisi“). Since 2000 she worked as a soloist at the National Theatre in Novi Sad and performed the roles of Flora in „La Traviata“, Fenena in „Nabucco“, Maddalena in „Rigoletto“, Suzuki in „Madama Butterfly“, Micaela in „Carmen“. In the season 2005 she was announced for the best actress of Adalgisa in “Norma”. Furthermore she is a soloist at the Opera House “Madlenianum” in Zenum and in the season 2006/07 she had her debut as Rosina in “Il barbiere di Seviglia” in the National Theatre in Maribor. |

The Serbian singer was born in 1980 in Jagodina where she attended the primary school for piano and secondary school for singing. In 2007 Dragana Stankovic graduated at the Academy of Music in Belgrade, since then she is on stage at the National theatre Belgrade. She sang Cherubino in “Le nozze di Figaro”, Mamma Lucia in “Cavalleria Rusticana”, Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Seviglia” as Rosina and in “Don Giovanni” as Donna Elvira. During her education she had her debut at the Madlenianum Opera in Belgrade as Dorabella in “Cosi fan tutte” and took part at the festivals “New Wave Festival” in New York in the role of Katharine Johnson in Gibson`s “Violet fire” and the International Opera festival “Young Opera Schloss Weikersheim” in the role of Angelina in “La Cenerentola” |

Marko Kalajanovic was born in 1984 in Serbia; in the year 2004 he finished successfully the School of Music “Davorin Jenko” in Belgrade. To enlarge his singing talent and his technical know-how he attended singing courses at Prof. Ljubodrag Begovic and Zivan Saramandic (National Opera Belgrade). He won numerous prizes at national and international singing competitions, like the 1 st prize at the competition for solo-singers in Belgrade. 2006 he participated to the masterclass for Baroque Music in Berlin and he was Soloist at the Madrigal Choir in Belgrade. Besides of concerts in Serbia, Italy and Germany he is also a member at the church choir “Mokranjac” and is member of the Serbian Association of the Music Artits. At present he takes singing lessons at the class of Mrs. Prof. Radmila Bakocevic. |

Teodor-Adrian Ilincai was born 1983 in Romania and visited the Art High School Suceava with specialization in Oboe. 2001 he graduated successfully the Theoretical High School „Constantin Brancoveanu” with specialization in philology. Afterwards he studied at the National University of Music in Bucharest with focus on Composition, Musicology and vocal and theoretical Religious Music.
At national singing contests in Italy (like the National Contest and TV show of Music „Bravo Bravissimo“ and the Musical Contest „Un vuoto per la voce“) he won the first prize in 2003 and 2004 and attended to the National Chamber Choir “Madrigal”, where he sang the Christmas concert with Mrs. Angela Gheorghiu at the Palace Hall Bucharest. At present he is soloist at the National Opera Bucharest, collaborator of the Bulandra Theatre Bucharest and Soloist at the Radio Academic Choirs. |

Olgica Milevska was born in 1978 in Bitola, Macedonia. She graduated at the local Academy of Music in singing. She studied afterwards with Mirella Peruto and Antonio Boyer and since 2004 she is member of the choir at the Macedonian National Opera Skopje. There she also played the roles of Zulma in “L´italiana in Algeri”, Agia in “Lidija from Macedonia” and Gross in “The turn of the screw”. Further she participated in the Ohrid Summer Festival and as a solist at the St. Kliment Ohridski Choir.

During her singing education she attended to the choir of the National Opera Timisoara and visited the master classes of Vladislav Piavko. She participated in the singing contest “Haricleea Darclee” and the national Rumanian singing contest “Felicia Donceanu”. She had her debut at the National Opera House Timisoara as Ida in “Die Fledermaus”. She further sang Sylvia of “Die Csardasfürstin”, Katy Pinkerton of “Madama Butterfly”, Valencienne of “Die lustige Witwe” and for the coming season she will prepare Susanna of “Le nozze di Figaro”, Liu of “Turandot”, Micaela of “Carmen” and Mimi and Mussetta of “La Boheme”. |

Marija Kuhar was born in 1982 in Zminj, Croatia. In 2000 she finished the Music high school in Pula in music pedagogy and piano, after that she studied music pedagogy and singing at the Music academy in Zagreb. During her study, in which she graduated 2006, she participated in various projects and won a lot of prizes at national and international music competitions. At the National Opera in Zagreb she played several roles, like Shepherdess in „Child and magic“, Luiga in „Covenienze teatrali“, Papagena and 1. Knabe in „Die Zauberflöte” and Zerlina in „Don Giovanni“. In the „Marin Držić” theatre in Dubrovnik she sang the role of Bastienne in „Bastien und Bastienne“ and in the Opera House in Halle she performed Catalina in “Juana“. Furthermore she worked with Croatian Orchestras and attended to seminars of KS Olivera Miljakovic and Lidija Horvat Dunjko. |

Vedrana Simic was born in 1979 in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2003 she graduated at the Academy of Music in Zagreb, afterwards she won prizes at singing contests in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a soloist she performanced at the National Opera House Zagreb, the Opera Studio Zagreb and at the National Opera House Sarajevo; she sang concerts with Orchestras, like the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Zenica Symphonic Orchestra (B&H) and the Leskovac Symphonic Orchestra (S&MG), furthermore she is a member of the Association of Croatian Music Artists (HDGU). Vedrana Simic performed several roles at the National Opera House Zagreb and sang the parts La Chauve, Souris and Una Pastourelle in the opera “L'enfant et les Sortileges”, Euridice in „Orfeo and Euridice“, Giovanna in “Rigoletto”, Sour Angelica of the same title and Ines in “Il Trovatore”. In the coming season she will be seen on stage as Amelia in “Un ballo in maschera”, as Mimi of “La Boheme” and as Anna in “Nabucco”. |

Ionut Pascu was born in 1977 in Constanta, Romania, and studied singing from 1996 until 2001 at the National University of Music in Bucharest. His career started at the age of 23 when he played the title roles in the operas “Don Giovanni” of W. A. Mozart and in “La Boheme” (Marcello) of G. Puccini. After this success he performed other roles in “Il Trovatore’’ (Count di Luna), „Le nozze di Figaro“ (Figaro), “Madama Butterfly’’ (Sharpless), “Cavalleria Rusticana’’ (Alfio) and “Carmen” (Escamillo) and sang German Operettas like „Die Fledermaus“ (Dr. Falke, Eisenstein), „Die Zauberflöte“ (Papageno) and „Das Land des Lächelns“ (Gustl). He also performed successfully in Holland, Germany, Korea, Italy, Macedonia, Hungary and Albania. Since October 2005 Ionut Pascu belongs to the artistic team of the National Opera House Bucharest. Beside his singing career he completed the study of orchestral conducting at the “G. Verdi” conservatory in Milan. In 2008 Jonut Pascu will be part in several opera performances as a singer, but he will also participate in some projects as a conductor. |

Vlad Mirita was born in 1981 in Targoviste, Rumania, where he began his singing education at the Art School when he was 16 years old. During his education he attended to the “Armonia Valaha Choir” and sang at national and international festivals and events. 2001 he took private lessons in singing with Maestro Corneliu Fanateanu in Bucharest and became a member of the famous East-European Chamber Choir “Madrigal”. Vlad Mirita won several prices at national and international singing contests and music festivals, such as the 1 st price at the National Pop Festival “Mamaia” in 2002, the 2 nd price at the international festival “Songs of the World 2005” or the 2 nd price at the international tenor voices festival “Traian Grozavescu” in Lugoj. Since 2006 he is soloist at the National Opera Bucharest and he sang in operas of Puccini, Verdi and Bizet. He sang the roles of Ismael in “Nabucco”, Edmondo in “Manon Lescaut” and the title roles in “Aida” and “Il Trovatore”. In 2007 Vlad Mirita visited the Master classes of Leontina Vaduva and Ionel Pantea and he participated in several concerts in Rumania. In the coming season he will not only be heard on stage but also on some Music albums (like Proms of Delight – Christmas Edition). |

Aleksa Vasic was born in 1981 in Belgrade; he finished the Music high school “Stankovic” in the section of violin and the Music high school “Mokranjac” in the section of singing. Afterwards he studied singing at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. He won several prizes at music competitions, such as the first prize in the republic competition of Serbia. In the National Opera House Belgrade he sang the role of Figaro in “Le nozze di Figaro”, Gianni Schicchi in “Gianni Schicchi” and Leporello in “Don Giovanni”. At the Opera House “Madlenianum” in Zemun, Serbia, he performed Baron Douphol in “La Traviata” and Lo zio Bonzo, in “Madama Butterfly”. Vladimir Sazdovski was born in 1983; after he finished the Music High School “Ilija Nikolovski-Luj” in Skopje he studied singing at the Music Academy “Pancho Vladigerov” in Sofia and graduated in the year 2006. During his studies he attended to master classes of Prof. Mirella Paruto and Antonio Boyer in Bitola, at which he also sang at “Interfest” concerts. In 2006 he had his debut at the Opera House Skopje as Sprecher, Priester and Geharnischter in “The Magic Flute”. At the 34th May Opera-Evening in Skopje Sazdovski played the role of the Pharao in Verdis “Aida” and sang together with two other scholarship holders Igor Durlovski and Aleksandar Stefanoski at the “Evening of three basses”. In 2007 he had his debut at the Opera House Skopje as Sparafucile in “Rigoletto”. Currently he studies in the master classes of Prof. Michael Temme and Prof. Leo Plettner at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. |

She played the roles of Berta in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Ida in “Die Fledermaus” and Gianetta in “L’elisir d’amore” at the National Opera Sarajevo and took part in “Carmina Burana” (Sopran-Solo) at the Bosnian National Opera Zenica. After his studies he took parts in performances at the Macedonian National Opera, where he played Eisenstein in “Die Fledermaus”, Gaston in “La Traviata”, Prince Yamadori in “Madama Butterfly”, Don Basilio in “Die Hochzeit des Figaro”, Tamino in “Die Zauberflöte” and Naum and Timotei in the contemporary opera “Lydia from Macedonia” (by Risto Avramovski). Among his performances together with the Macedonian Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the Macedonian National Opera, he sang at the “Ohrid Summer Festival” and the “Days of Macedonian Culture in Germany” and sang in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Albania and Serbia. In the year 2007 he enlarged his stage experiences at the Macedonian National Opera in several performances, such as “Rigoletto” or “La Boheme”. |

After her graduation at the Music academy “Gheorghe Dima” in Cluj Napoca with specialisation in “Canto Classic”, she attended to the post-graduate course for singing for one year and completed the master class of “Haricleea Darclee Foundation”. During her study she won the first price at the singing contest “Young expectations”. During the studies he sang with the Orchestra of the Macedonian National Opera “Makedonisken Philharmonie” and the “Ost-West” Symphony Orchestra Altenburg. Furthermore he had solo-performances in Macedonia, Germany, Bosnia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia and Marokko. After his graduation he continued his education with KS Olivera Miljakovic and was soloist at the Macedonian National Opera House.
